Battle report: |
The Tuaregs started well by winning the toss, we elected to bat. Our openers went in, took guard and were out. This tactic of pathetic batting was a great success and we were poised on the brink at 36 for 6!! Many thanks to our own umpires who gave three LBW's thus ably assisting this plunge.! However all was not lost as at the crease was James Baird and Alex Paterson. James smacked a very useful 22 until he was out LBW! The score was 68 for 7 with only two wickets left (we only had 10 tribesmen). In strolled Saul 'he appealed three times I had to give one out' Shanagher (removing our most lethal umpire from their attack) and the recovery began. A truly incredible eighth wicket partnership of 96 took our score to 164 and we were finally all out for 167 with Alex Paterson making a magnificent 76. Well done the tail... Our bowlers now had a target and despite the best efforts of our keeper and the 'ring of roses' slip cordon to drop catches we kept the pressure on. Finally at 6.34 the RBR were rolled over for 119 securing a truly magnificent Taureg victory. Seldom have the campfires raged with such brilliance. Not since July 1997 have the Tuaregs won a game, thus breaking all the traditions of 'piss poor leadership and cackhanded ineptitude' which have come to typify our performances. Well done lads |
