Battle report:

This was the last game of the season and with the scores so far, won 3 lost 2. Victory or a draw would have given us our first EVER 'in credit' season.

This limited overs game again began well with the Tuaregs winning the toss. We thought we would have a go at batting and showed true form loosing several early wickets to an accurate bowling attack.

Runs and wickets appeared to run in tandem and if it were not for Robert White (49) we would have been in our usual mire. The Tuaregs were finally all out for 142.

Not much to bowl at, but we managed to snatch a few wickets and the game appeared to be on. This of course, did not last and following the withdrawal of Ed Beckwith from the bowling and fielding attack (more of that in Mong-Moments) plus some truly spectacular drop catches, the Godfrey-Evans IX coasted home by 5 wickets.

Valiant effort again. Our season had finished, the most successful ever...(played 6 won 3 lost 3)

Result:

The Tuareg camfires were pissed all over

Mong-Moment:

This goes to the Chief (Edward Beckwith) for a dramatic and frightening episode. Fielding at midwicket the oppo. batsman hoisted a delivery into the air apparently down the Ed's throat. He ran forward thoroughly focused on the ball and itıs trajectory, determined to secure the vital catch.

He was unaware, that headed towards him, screaming 'MINE, MINE' was 16 stone, of the South African meathead, Charlie Brinton. The resulting collision sent Ed flying across the pitch and he landed in an unconscious heap on the ground.

Tuaregs rushed to the aid of their stricken leader throwing a bucket of water on him and trying to revive him by laughing hysterically. He was eventually taken to hospital and after numerous tests and was allowed home in a state of heavy concussion.

The catch? Dropped.

Brinton? Not a scratch
